In his live shows, MC Hammersmith performs improvised hip hop comedy. He is a freestyle rapper - meaning he raps spontaneously, unscripted, with absolutely no preparation. The lyrics and rhymes of his raps are 100% improvised and based entirely on crowd suggestions. He takes stories and suggestions from audience members, then raps about them at lightning speed. Mind-blowing, hilarious, and completely different every single time.
MC Hammersmith (real name Will Naameh) grew up attending an all-male, middle class private school in the suburb of Hammersmith, west London. After escaping this, he took up improv classes while studying for a degree in Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. Combining his love for linguistics, improvisation, and hip hop, he first started performing solo freestyle rap comedy in 2016. Since then he has sold out nationwide solo comedy tours, won multiple comedy awards for his freestyle rap performances, gained over half a billion views for his online videos, and supported Jason Manford on his arena tour of the UK.
Now based in Edinburgh, he is a highly in-demand act for festivals, cabaret shows, and corporate events worldwide. Two men on stage, one singing into a microphone with one arm raised, the other smiling and looking at him, in a setting with brick wall and large window panels. He also writes and performs scripted hip hop comedy. He released his first video in April 2020, and has gone viral numerous times on social media, accumulating millions of followers online. His debut album, Mother's Fettuccine, was released in October 2023, featuring many of his viral hits. He is also a writer for acclaimed YouTube web series Epic Rap Battles of History. Outside of rapping, MC Hammersmith trained in improv at Second City and iO Chicago, the Annoyance Theatre in Chicago, and UCB New York.
He regularly performs improv comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and beyond with three of the biggest touring improv shows in the world: Baby Wants Candy, Shamilton, and The Spontaneous Players.
